Overview

Individuals engage in our services to gain an awareness of self and identify with others.

Our goal at HKNC is to provide an emotionally supportive environment that encourages individual growth and a safe space to learn the necessary skills and knowledge to continue to play an active role within your family and community.

The Helen Keller National Center offers a variety of supports such as individual counseling, family counseling and group counseling.

Individual counseling can be in the form of psychotherapy for self-esteem building and self-advocacy. We also offer a wide range of support groups that are constantly evolving depending on the needs of our participants. Examples of some of the groups are Usher Syndrome Support Group, Adjustment to DeafBlindness, Women’s Group, Men’s Group, and Young Adult Group. Participants of support groups benefit from sharing their experiences and supporting each other.
