Thank you to all of the local state elected officials who took time out of their day to come visit our client, Helen Keller Services’ Camp Helen Keller at LIU Post.

This 5 week Summer Day Camp is an unforgettable summer experience for visually impaired children. The camp aims to improve self-esteem, self-confidence and socialization skills in children ages 5-15.

Staffed by rehabilitation and education professionals, Camp Helen Keller is uniquely equipped to create a fun, safe and enriching environment for visually impaired campers. Their low camper-to-counselor ratio (3:1) ensures that campers receive a high level of personal attention as they participate in educational and recreational activities and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Activities include swimming, field games, arts and crafts, music, dance, adaptive computer instruction and age-appropriate field trips.

Camp Helen Keller offers families the convenience of door-to-door transportation for campers who live in Nassau, Queens, and Western and Central Suffolk counties.

Thank you again to Senators Kaplan, Kaminsky, Gaughran and Thomas as well as Assemblymembers Darling, Griffin, Miller and Ra for visiting campers from their district this year!
