Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) is the only national organization dedicated to providing quality services to promote the quality of life for individuals who are DeafBlind. With 50+ years of specialized employment and rehabilitation services to individuals with combined vision and hearing loss, HKNC is committed to provide individualized training to meet each participant’s goals.
HKNC’s Comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Program (CVRP) located on our beautiful Sands Point, Long Island campus provides individualized evaluation and training based on your goals for your future. Our program provides you with the opportunity to work as a team with a wide variety of rehabilitation professionals and also includes audiological, low vision and social work services.
Every summer, HKNC offers 3 programs for youth 16 and older at our campus in NY. Whether you are interested in obtaining your first experience in a workplace or looking to enter college after High School, we have choices for you. HKNC’s programs offer Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), established through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Choose between a 6-week Summer Youth Vocational Program (SYVP), our 2-week M~Power (My Pursuit of Work, Empowerment and Resources) program, or a summer assessment that will support you in your final years of High School or your transition to higher education or employment.
Senior adults age 55 and over are the largest group of individuals experiencing both hearing and vision loss. HKNC offers consultation and specialized services to individuals who are experiencing a combined loss of hearing and vision, their families and the professionals that serve them.
